There has been on going debates about the importance of taking rental insurance, when you are renting an automobile. Many believe that their own car insurance will cover them while they are driving a rental and other feel that the credit card they use to rent the car offers them protection. Somethings that you should take into consideration is that rental companies only push this rental insurance for two reasons; the first is so that they will make extra money on your rental and the second is so that the rental insurance will protect their car. In the end, their car is all that is important to them.
Here are some of the most asked questions about rental insurance, and the answer are most likely going to surprise many of you.
Q: DOESNT MY REGULAR CAR INSURANCE POLICY COVER ME WHEN I AM DRIVING A RENTAL CAR?
A: This is a big YES! Almost all car insurance companies will cover you, even when you are driving a rental car. I would, however, suggest that you contact your insurance company prior to getting your rental just to be 100% sure.
Q: WILL THE CREDIT CARD THAT I USED TO RENT THE CAR COVER ME FOR ANY DAMAGES?
A: Again the answer to this is most likely. Most major credit cards like Visa, American Express, and Master Card do offer you additional insurance protection when you charge your vehicle rental to your credit card. Again this is something that you can easily check into by calling the company in advance.
Q: IF MY CREDIT CARD AND INSURANCE COMPANIES COVER ME FOR RENTAL, DO I STILL NEED TO TAKE OUT CAR RENTAL INSURANCE FROM TEH RENTAL COMPANY?
A: Absolutely not. Many companies will tell you that your insurance wont cover everything or that you are leaving yourself open to liability if you don’t take their coverage, however most car rental coverage doesn’t even cover you as well as your own. Many times the companies and their representatives will lead you to believe that this coverage is necessary, but in reality it will provide you with no benefit at all if you are already covered, and therefore this will just be unnecessary money that you will be handing over to the car rental agent.
So before yo arrive at the rental car company to pick up your vehicle check with your insurance and credit car companies to see what you are covered for. This will make you more confident when you refuse the rental companies insurance and you will be saving a lot of money.

It’s really very easy to change you into a savvy shopper, just take note of these car insurance pointers. You will be amazed by how simple, easy, and effective these strategies are at giving you the best deal. Heres some fail-safe ways to shave ten, twenty, or even hundreds of dollars off your car insurance policy.
First, drive cautiously. A person with even a few accidents or speeding tickets on their record will ultimately pay a much higher price for their car insurance policy than a driver with a clean record. Instead of shelling out your hard-earned money for insurance premiums, take care to obey all traffic regulations and keep your money in your own pocket.
Another is, take note of the numerous discounts you can receive from car insurance companies. To best avail of this deal, you need to be acquainted with what they offer. For example, you can include all of your vehicles in one policy to acquire a multiple vehicle discount.
Another is to insure your house and your vehicle in the same policy, so you can avail of a multiple line discount. It is also worth inquiring if companies give credit for good student card report, low mileage, airbag and anti-theft safety systems, age of car, and occupational and auto club discounts. The more discounts you accumulate, the more money you can save.
A few more car insurance tips: raise your deductibles if you can, if the price is right. Your deductible is how much you will have to pay up front in the event you have to file a claim before the insurance company steps in and helps with the costs. When you have a low deductible, for example you pay the first 250 dollars, your premium will be higher. If you had a higher deductible of 500 dollars, your premium will be lower.
In case you transfer to another residence, make it a point to seek out the best car insurance suitable for your new location. You can always stumble upon car insurance policies with better deals just right for your new residence. Auto insurance companies are like snowflakes-they all have the basic scheme of insuring their customers, but each has a unique way of implementing this. So if you are told that it does not matter which company you pick for insurance as long as you have it, do not believe them.
The best advice that you can get to save money on your insurance is to shop around. Don’t just pick the insurance with the cheapest premium, because the quote may not include the same coverage from one plan to the next. Instead, be sure you compare and contrast plans with similar coverages, deductibles, and limitations, so you know you’re really getting the best possible deal.
It may be helpful to check out comparison websites to assist you in gathering the information you need about different plans. Hopefully these car insurance tips are just what you need to start saving you and your loved ones money on your premiums today.

With so many pollutants and wasted products in the environment today we are seeing more and more companies provide “green” solutions. Many businesses have already gone with a “go green” campaign to help lessen their affects on the environment in a harmful way.
Also you want to be assured that you are getting quality workmanship done for your vehicle. Getting any form of paint work done to your car falls directly into what is mentioned above. You want to make sure that it comes out looking great and stays looking great!
First of all you should be familiar with what “green” means. Well to have a “green” products means that it causes little disruptions to the environment it how it is made. Using renewable or recycled materials makes it a little more greener. It also has to do with how many chemicals are released into the environment during the whole process involved in achieving the end result.
Simply put the saying “go green” means to become actively interested in environmental issues and support environmental causes. Since we live in our environment and it affects our lives many people, as they should, have become aware of the problems we inflict on our environment and are striving to make a difference in how we do things. We want our earth to be around and in a good state for our children and grandchildren.
Also you should check that they are using a high quality paint for your vehicle. It is important that you vehicle has a top quality paint since your paint is what acts as a protection for your cars metal body against rust and other environmental hazards. Also you want to make sure again that it is a seamless job and that it will not be too noticeable that you had paint work done.
Another way you can get a quote is to actually stop by auto body shops in your area. Actually going to the auto body shop is great because they physically see what work needs to be done and to what extent, which will lead to a more accurate estimate for you. Also you will be able to really get a feel for the auto body shop to see if it is a place you would like to conduct business with and if you think they will complete the best work for your vehicle.
So, since many people are looking for a “green” change for the environment many businesses are taking the opportunity to help out and “go green”. So, if you want to do your part you can choose to conduct business with those that are making the effort to reduce their affects on the environment in a harmful way. After all, we all want our children to be able to grow up on a great planet with less harmful emissions to the environment.
So, make sure you really check around and get the most qualified specialist and a great price as well. Oh yes, you should not be paying for all those quotes either!!!

What’s the deal with the Auto Body Shops? Everyone might be asking themselves that question. It’s just a matter of knowing what things you should know before you get mad or happy with them. Your car is too important for you, and you should know how to save your money on some items before it’s too late.
Your car has sustained $1500.00 in damage; your insurance company pays you less a deductible. You schedule your vehicle to be repaired at your neighborhood auto body shop. Two days before you take in your vehicle, you get a nasty credit card bill.
There are many different services that can be performed on your vehicle as far as auto body repairs are concerned. Many auto body shops offer a variety of services that include paint touch up, paint less dent removal, bumper repair, wheel rim repair, windshield repair and much more.
You should start looking by asking around or dropping into local auto body repair shops in your area. Ask to see what kind of work they perform, how long it will take to complete the repairs, how much it will cost you to get the work completed, and the kind of process they use to repair vehicles, and anything else you feel is important to your specific needs.
That is the secured interest would try to collect, if the vehicle is repossessed seems like it is a lost cause. If the auto is 100% owned, than it does not matter what the owner does with the insurance payout.
One thing to check is how long the shop has been in business for. This is not a sole indicator, but if the shop has been in business for some time chances are they are reliable and should do a good job on your vehicle. Don’t choose a shop that has secured a bad name for their shop. Also, if you were to have any problems down the road you want to be sure that they will be around to uphold any warranty or guarantee that they will most likely give you.
The only way for a shop to keep absorbing blows like this from cash strapped consumers, is to take drastic cuts in what is owed to them, cut their estimate, or even eat the customer’s deductible, which is not even legal in some states. Why would a shop need to work to just keep the lights on, might be better to just close the doors. The insurance company pays the retail estimate, they by no means encourage the customer to cut deals with the shop, there objective is to put the customer back in there prior position. The repair decision ultimately lies on the finicky auto owner.
Even though quality is one of the biggest things you are looking for, you will want to get a good deal. Don’t just choose the first shop that you like. Look around at others and compare all aspects of them and then choose the one you feel is right for you and your vehicle.

When you have had the unfortunate event of being in a automotive collision, the last thing you need is to have a bad experience with an auto body shop not doing their job. A good auto body shop will fix your car back to pre-loss condition, both in appearance and in structural and mechanical integrity. A great auto body shop will almost make you feel like the accident never happened. They should start with customer service better then you get at a good restaurant.
When you buy a car, it may be the right type of car but you might not like the color. The color can mean a lot and even determine how you like the car. Perhaps you buy a car that has the perfect body but is pink. Therefore you will probably want to get the car painted.
I have been in this industry for over 25 years in the same area, I have worked in high quality auto body shops large and small, and have owned my own collision and custom shop in Portland Oregon for the last 8 years. In my area there are hundreds of auto body repair shops in a very small area, yet I only know a few I would trust with my vehicles. So for the most part you have to be as informed as you can, and ask a lot of questions.
I am going to give you some information about the industry that will hopefully help to make that informed decision a little easier. First, do not let your insurance company tell you where to have your vehicle repaired, in most cases they have contracts with the shop to save them money in exchange for sending them your vehicle. in this case the insurance company saves money, the shop gets the work but has to cut corners to keep the cost down for the insurance company. And you, the one that pays the insurance company all those inflated premiums, and pays the body shop your deductible gets a substandard repair. The insurance company may say “if you don’t take the job to our repair shop we can’t guaranty the work”, the fact is any and all good auto body shops guaranty their work for as long as you own your car, if they don’t, go somewhere else.
Next thing to do is be sure to question the person who is estimating your damage, smaller shop owners will usually take care of you personally, and in most cases, actually be involved in the repair process. In most of the larger or chain shops the person writing the estimate on how to fix your vehicle is a salesperson, usually having absolutely no experience repairing cars, not to say that the techs working at that shop wont fix your car correctly, but they may just not feel like rewriting the estimate the way it should of been written to begin with.
Step 2: Find out if there is anyone at a post higher than the manager. If yes, get an appointment fixed with the higher authorities of that auto body shop. Speak to them directly if possible; otherwise just send them an e-mail explaining your problems. If this solution also does not work, try the next step.
Ask if the body shop is on any insurance programs or direct repair programs, if they are ask why? the only reason I know why a auto body shop would agree to be on a program would be to get work that they could not get on their own. Again this does not mean just because they have a direct repair program they are not a great shop, but if they have 20 then I would be a little concerned? Ask them to explain.
Many car owners will buy an old car that runs great but has a bad paint job and structural damage. Within a few weeks of getting that car, they could be driving it down the road and no one would suspect it was rusted and severely dented thanks to the hard work of companies that do body work and paint jobs for cars in the Los Angeles area. There really is no better way to make your car look new again.

One of the very first things you should think about when choosing a Collision shop is, “How much experience does the shop have?” It’s not enough to know how many years a shop has been in business, but it’s a good place to start. You should also take into account the extreme climate here in Monroe County, and the extra experience required to deal with the damage road salt can cause.
Make sure you ask the manager, and then follow up with “How much experience do your technicians have?” That’s the really important question, because you want to know that the folks who will actually be working on your car or truck, repairing the sheet metal, straightening the frame, and painting the body panels really know what they are doing. Experience, as they say, truly is the best teacher.
Even today though, work done by technicians has changed by technology. If you look above, there will be vacuum lines connected to sanders and grinders; these are to pull any dirt and dust away from this area of the shop. It is amazing how clean these areas are kept.
Once the metal work has been completed, the next stage is the paint prep area, normally in this area dust extraction systems are used to remove any dust that occurs during sanding and paint primer spraying. Body shops use infrared light systems in this area to cure paint primer quickly. These lights usually speed up the drying time, allowing the primer to cure in 20 minutes rather than 24 hours; therefore, your car is ready to go a lot quicker.
You could also ask to speak with one or two of the technicians, and ask them straight out what kind of a facility they work for. Either way, ask questions to determine technician satisfaction.
The most important thing at this later stage is that the vehicle gets finished in a paint booth that is clean and dust free. This outweighs a dirty booth of a fantastic design.
This is when maybe you should ask to see any finished vehicles in the body shop to check the painters work before leaving your vehicle and any money is spent. The things to look for are, smooth finishes that have very few dust specs and ensure the colors match from one panel to another. These are evidence of a quality paint spray done by a professional.
How long has the shop been open? How much experience do the technicians have? How satisfied are the techs? Hopefully, asking these three questions will help you feel more confident and comfortable the next time the unavoidable happens, and you are faced with the need to choose the very best collision repair facility

A general assumption that is really off the mark when it comes to buying good car insurance plans is that expensive policies spell wide coverage. This is certainly false and if your car insurance program is so expensive that you’re going to be working second jobs just to pay off the monthly premiums, you are going to feel more than a bit sick to the guts when you do find out that there are other important factors besides wide coverage and costs that are important to consider when buying auto insurance.
In fact, there was a time that everyone with a car was lining up for the lowest paying, wide coverage car insurance plan. However, the peace of mind promised by many of the middle and even some top range car insurance providers has turned out to have a lot of fine print, which is one reason for people wanting to change car insurance companies.
The first important thing to remember when buying car insurance plans is not to rush into buying the first auto insurance policy providers dangle in your face. It is advisable to shop around for the most competitive quotes, plans and network areas of coverage as offered by different new insurance providers with a local presence before going for the bigger, established companies that are more well-known.
Sometimes, it so happens, the newer entrants in the car insurance provider segment may a more extensive choice of policies and premiums that fit various budgets besides other benefits (such as tie-ups with home insurance policies, flexi-payment plans and round-the-clock customer service).
Reasons for changing car insurance companies also includes relocation to a new state, where the old service provider’s network does not cover any car insurance any service arrangement for you. Sometimes, a new, local provider may be able to give wider, cheaper coverage than the previous car insurance company; at times like this, it makes sense to switch providers.
For others, joining a new job may include perks like employee car insurance coverage at lower costs than the market retail rates and so reasons for changing car insurance companies may just be a matter of smart financial sense.
So, steer clear of these expensive add-ons and concentrate on other important aspects of buying quality car insurance, such as discount schemes and your eligibility for availing these (e.g. senior citizen, good driving record, group insurance plan opt-in etc.) besides financial strength of the insurer in order to get the right policy!

When your car breaks down, it is never a fun experience. It has happened to just about everyone at one time or another. No one wants to be in that situation but there are steps you can take to help you get through it, particularly if you are not a member of an auto club. If you have a membership to an auto club then you simply need to call them for roadside assistance. It is said that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Therefore, especially if you have to handle a breakdown yourself, it is best to be prepared. Have everything in your car that you may need if you get stranded somewhere. If possible, the first thing you should do is pull safely over to the side of the road.
- Cell phone: You are never going to appreciate having a cell phone more than you will if your car breaks down. If you have a cell phone you can call a service station and at least get a tow, if possible. If that is not possible, you can at least call someone to pick you up.
- Flashlight: The possibility always exists that your car can break down while you are driving at night. If it does, you will want to have a flashlight handy. - Reflective warning triangles: These will help protect you and your vehicle in case of a breakdown. Once you are over to the side of the road, turn on your hazard lights to alert traffic that may be headed your way.
Once you do this, follow these tips
- Enter and exit your car using the door that is furthest away from traffic.
- Place at least 2 reflective triangles behind your car and one in front of your car. Place the farthest one approximately 50 feet behind your car.
- If possible, move away from the car to make your phone calls and also have your passengers move away from the car.
- Call a tow truck, a ride, or the police. It is only natural to worry about your car but the first priority is your safety and your passengers safety.
Most importantly, don’t panic. If you are not in a familiar area or you are traveling and do not know who to call, contact the police. These are very stressful situations and there is no need to try to handle them alone under these conditions. Keep the priorities straight. Ensure the safety of yourself and your passengers first and then the protection of your car. The car can be replaced, a human life cannot.
If you have ever had a car break down, you are well aware of the benefits of having an auto club membership. More than anything else (and there is a lot) they provide you with peace of mind. Breakdowns happen, just make sure you know how to stay safe when they happen.

Auto insurance is expensive, but with good reason. Should you be in an accident, paying for a new car would not be something that the average citizen could do. Instead of agreeing to do without some services or accepting a high deductible, first consider certain tactics in reducing costs.
The method in which you pay your auto insurance company can have an effect on the price you pay. Auto insurance companies are now offering small discounts to those who pay electronically, or through what is called electronic funds transfer. The EFT route of payment results in less paperwork and is more reliable, so auto insurance companies like to encourage the usage of this method.
When your parents told you that doing well in school would pay off, they weren’t kidding around. Some auto insurance companies will offer a good student discount for students who maintain a certain grade point average, or GPA. This is commonly set at a 3.5 GPA or higher, but varies. Good students are more responsible on average, so shouldn’t they be rewarded?
Some have auto insurance just so they are able to drive when they need to- not because they need to drive on a constant basis. If you live in the city or an urban area of sorts, odds are you won’t have much use for driving on a daily basis. If that’s the case, you should look into reward programs such as the MyRate plan from Progressive. It logs your mileage and driving specifications and gives out discounts based on how you perform.
Security is the best way to prevent your car from being stolen or vandalized. Having a security alarm or something similar can sometimes put you in the spotlight for a deduction on your monthly premiums. When auto insurance companies can trust that your car won’t be stolen, they know they won’t have to worry about paying you for such a case. The reduction in risk will bring a reduction in premiums, and while not much, is still worth the effort.
The best thing you can do at this point to avoid a rise in premiums is to stay out of trouble. When you break the law, you are doing more than endangering the lives of others- you are also making your own finances suffer. Auto insurance companies will keep up to date on your driving record, and will penalize you or drop you altogether if you show too much risk as a driver.
Closing Comments
You won’t be able to get around paying for auto insurance if you want to be able to drive legally. But you can help your wallet out by trying out the discounts mentioned above. Even if it costs money initially, it will pay for itself over time.

Teenage driving is a serious issue of parents worldwide due to regular occurrences of teen crashes and mishaps on the road. The important thing is to understand the reasons for such occurrences and reduce the risk taking habit of the teen drivers. The other areas to improve are to reduce the exposure to any sort of risk and teach the required driving skills to these teenagers.
Simply increasing the driving age from 16 to 18 years may not be the right solution to reduce teen crashes. It will only impact several sectors of the automobile industry like manufacturers, insurance agents, driving instructors and gas companies. Both auto manufacturers and insurance agents will see a sharp drop in their revenues due to these measures.
It is important to educate the teens regarding driving rules and make them adhere to these rules in a disciplined manner. It has been found that lack of skills, risk taking behavior, and immaturity are the main reasons that lead to teen crashes. So it is important for the parents to guide their children to avoid such behaviors and develop sufficient skills before they hand them the car keys.
Drunken driving, not wearing seat belts, distractions on the road, and late night driving have been the reasons for teen mishaps on the road. Most of the teen fatalities tend to occur between 6 PM to 6AM mainly on Fridays and weekends.
The safety rules are not followed by the teenagers in a proper manner. They don’t drive with their parent or instructor for the first three months after getting their driving license, avoid driving at midnight except for some purposeful reason, avoid usage of gadgets like phones, and wear seat belts. The lack of discipline and non-adherence to safety rules has been a major reason for teen accidents.
In order to reduce exposure to risk the parents should join their children and be a part of their classes. They should see to it that their children are picking up the necessary knowledge from the class. The parents should teach defensive driving techniques to their children. It is important to let the child be aware of the driving experiences of their parents as that would prepare them to handle any difficult situation.
The parents should also help in modifying the risk taking behavior in their children. The chemical reaction of hormones and other pattern changes in the teenagers’ body makes it difficult for them to avoid their risk taking behavior. So it is important for the parents to formulate a plan and approach regarding traffic safety for their children. It is necessary to understand the situations where the teenager might take risk for the sake of enjoyment. The parents should then help these teens to carefully analyze the repercussions of their act. This might lead to modification of the risk taking behavior for the teen.
It is important for teenagers to join the best driver education program. The onus lies on the parents to make their children join an authorized and certified driver education program which can help them develop their driving skills. The quality of the program and instructors approach is important for helping the teenager grasp the required driving knowledge. It is important to monitor the progress of the teenager on a daily basis. It is important to explain to the teenager that the driver program is just the beginning of their learning curve to become an expert driver.
